Dillon Patrick History:

On May 6th, 2015 the Phillies had a baseball game at Bernal fields/Patelco Park this was a special game for Dillon because he was going to pitch that day.  On most occasions, Dillon would be the catcher!

He had been working on his pitching so he was excited. Before he could grace the field he began to feel very sick. His dad (Patrick) was there with him to help him get to emergency services. Dillon then spent the next months of his life fighting to get better in the hospital.

After spending 6 months in the hospital not knowing what was wrong with Dillon, the amazing doctors ran a full head and spine MRI. The results from the tests showed Dillon had Cancer. Ependymoma brain and spinal cancer.

Dillon left the hospital the next month November 19, 2015, to come home and try to heal at home. He did heal from some things, he had some big milestones. One of his biggest milestone was when Dillon was able to breathe ALL on his own again, with no machines.  Dillon lost his battle with cancer on November 20, 2016.

He is loved and survived by his dad, mom, and sister ( Patrick, Karina, Ireland )

Dillon has so many others that love and remember him for the amazing kid he is! We appreciate all the love and support the communities surrounding us have shown.

Both our kids have spent all their grammar school years at the amazing Sunol Glen School. So having them play sports in Pleasanton was important because they were going to be in Pleasanton high schools. Dillon loved playing baseball for this wonderful league. He had amazing coaches and teammates who he loved being with. Going to practice and being outside, working hard at what he loved to do would make his day. He played percussion at school and was pretty good. He liked reading, playing cards, and video games. He was a studious but mostly he loved to be outside. He loved a good hike with family and friends. Dillon also enjoyed playing basketball either for a team or even outside with the amazing kids from the neighborhood!

We are proud and excited to share the love of Baseball of Dillon-Patrick O’Leary through this First Annual Dillon-Patrick Memorial Baseball Tournament.   The joy of all the kids playing on the field will help to keep his memory alive. We are happy to share this through the support of Pleasanton Little League who supported him throughout his unfortunate journey.  Please join us June 26th-July 2nd for the Second Tournament to honor him. We hope this will become an annual event in which boys from all around will look forward to come out to play some ball and have some fun just as Dillon would have done!
